Curated by CAMEO, this part exhibition/part sale gives visitors a peek inside the art of clay and recreates the process of making a teapot. Coupled with collected works of art in the permanent TEAPOT collection, some pots will be for sale in Houston.

CAMEO, a non profit 501 3(c) proudly showcases clay artists from across the globe during one of its biggest TEXAS tournaments since 2006. With the support of Ceramics Monthly, TEAinTEXAS, The Ceramics Store and many local clay groups who promoted the exhibit, CAMEO was able to accept over sixty functional and sculptural bodies of work representing Hawaii, California, New Hampshire, Florida and more.  This annual tournament awards one of the top monetary prizes for clay in the country with $1000 purchase prize being judged by Linnis Blanton, adjunct instructor of ceramics at Texas’ Lamar University. The full CAMEO teapot collection will be on display, showing exquisite winners of the past 10 years. TEA+ART gallery located in the heart of Houston’s Heights District at 613 1/2 19th Street, behind the blue awning.

$500 will be awarded to a second prize Memorial Award, this year in memory of british potter Ray Finch. TEA+ART will have some of Ray Finch’s work on display during the show.  Ray Finch was a pupil of the great Bernard Leach and the founder of the Winchecomb Pottery in England. His work can be found in numerous museums in England and we are very fortunate to be able to honor him in Houston.
